Antalya
With well over a million inhabitants, Antalya is the Riviera’s big city – and, thanks to its airport, the first stop for most visitors. Its old quarter, Kaleiçi, wraps narrow lanes of Ottoman houses around the Roman harbour, and Hadrian’s Gate still marks the way in. Our day trip heads west of the centre to Konyaaltı, home of the Antalya Aquarium: a long walk-through tunnel where sharks and rays swim right over your head, around 40 themed tanks and touch pools, all under one roof.
Belek
Halfway between Antalya and Side, Belek is golf and resort country, with long sandy beaches. It is also where you find The Land of Legends, a water and theme park with giant slides, wave pools, a wild river, dolphin and sea lion shows and, in the evening, a show of light, fountains and fireworks.
On the way: Aspendos
Not far from Belek stands Aspendos, whose 2nd-century Roman theatre is one of the best preserved anywhere – visit it on the Aspendos, Side and Manavgat tour. Landing in Antalya? Book a private transfer to Alanya and skip the shuttle queues.
Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Alanya?
Allow roughly two hours each way to Antalya and a little under an hour and a half to Belek; traffic and the location of your hotel make the difference.
Is The Land of Legends only for big kids?
Not at all – besides the big slides there are shallow pools and play areas for the little ones, plus shows for every age.
Are the tickets included?
Yes – on both the Land of Legends and the aquarium trips, the entrance ticket and the transfer are in the price. The evening show at The Land of Legends is an optional extra.
