On and under the water

The big one is rafting in Köprülü Canyon: about 14 km of the cold, clear Köprüçay, with rapids, calm stretches and a skipper in every raft, so no experience is needed. The Köprülü adventure combo adds a zipline across the river, a buggy run and an open-bus ride to a viewpoint on the same day. Off Alanya, the scuba diving day makes two boat dives with instructors – a first try for beginners from age 10, a relaxed day out for certified divers – and the sea fishing trip is the calm choice for anyone who would rather stay dry.

Above the ground and on horseback

For the best view of your holiday, the tandem paragliding flight takes off from Yassı Tepe at about 700 metres and lands on Cleopatra Beach after roughly 20 minutes, with a licensed pilot doing the flying. Back on the ground, a horse ride at a family ranch gives you about an hour on forest and hill trails, and complete beginners are matched with calm horses.

Off-road and underground

Drive yourself on the quad or buggy safari, or let a driver take the 4×4 to Sapadere Canyon, the Dim River or the Green Canyon. The Lion Park jeep day mixes animals with off-road fun, and on Mondays and Thursdays the Altınbeşik Cave trip crosses an underground lake by inflatable boat.

Every activity begins with a safety briefing, and the safety gear is provided. Age, weight and health limits differ from one activity to the next – 16 to drive a quad, 18 to drive a buggy, weight details for the paraglider – and each tour page lists them. Frequently asked questions

I've never rafted or flown – can I still do it?

Yes. A skipper sits at the back of every raft and steers, and on the paraglider a licensed pilot flies the tandem; your part is a few paddle strokes or a few running steps.

Is there a minimum age?

That varies: you drive a quad from 16 and a buggy from 18, and try-dives start at 10. On several trips younger children come along as passengers or with their parents – each tour page has the details.

Which adventure suits a first-timer?

Rafting is the classic first adventure – exciting but manageable, with a skipper at the back of the raft. The horse ride and the jeep safaris are gentle starts, too.

What do I pack for a rafting day?

Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and shoes you don't mind soaking, and bring a towel plus a full change of dry clothes. The base hands out helmets, life jackets and paddles.
