A river named after its bridges
Köprülü means ‘with bridges’, and the canyon takes its name from the arched stone bridges, Roman in origin, that still span the Köprüçay – the Eurymedon of antiquity. The area became a national park in 1973, partly to protect its rare Mediterranean cypress forest, and the remains of ancient Selge sit on the heights above the gorge.
Rafting for first-timers
The river is lively but forgiving, which makes it ideal for a first go. On the rafting day you paddle about 14 km with a skipper steering every raft, stop for swims and eat lunch at a riverside restaurant. The adventure combo adds a zipline across the river, a buggy run and an open-bus ride to a viewpoint on the same day.
Good to know
Spring water keeps the river cold all summer, so wear swimwear under your clothes and pack a full dry change. Leave valuables at the hotel or in a locker at the base. Both trips collect from Alanya, the Side area, Belek and Kemer; the drive to the base is shorter from Belek and Side than from Alanya.
Frequently asked questions
We've never rafted. Is this river too wild?
No – the rapids are fun but manageable for beginners, and a professional skipper steers each raft after a safety talk.
How about the kids?
Families raft here all the time. Children aged 3–11 pay the child price; send us their ages so the right boat and section can be planned.
Where do my phone and valuables go?
Best left at the hotel or in a locker at the rafting base – anything that comes onto the river gets wet.
