There is a particular kind of quiet you only find on horseback: the creak of the saddle, hooves on a pine-needle path and, now and then, a glimpse of the sea between the trees. This trip takes you to a family-run ranch in the hills between Alanya and Side, where the horses are calm, used to visitors and happy to carry riders who have never sat on a horse before.

Matched to the right horse

When you book, tell us each rider’s age, height and experience. At the ranch the trainers use that to pick a suitable horse, then give a short safety briefing and show you the basics – how to sit, steer and stop. Everyone gets a helmet and the rest of the riding kit.

On the trail

You ride for about an hour with a guide, through pine woods and over gentle hills with views of the Taurus Mountains and, when the air is clear, the coast. Beginners stay at a relaxed walk on short, easy paths, while confident riders can take longer stretches at a livelier pace. There are stops for photos, and on some routes even a chance for a quick swim.

Back at the ranch

Afterwards you can sit in the shade with a drink, look through the photos taken during the ride and say hello to the farm’s other animals – a favourite moment for children. Children aged 3–11 pay €25 and adults €45; the youngest riders are accompanied by a guide. For softer light and cooler air, ask for a sunset ride – these fill up early, so reserve in advance.

Transfer and what to wear

We collect you at a time agreed with you, and the whole outing takes around four hours. The transfer is free from the resorts between Kızılot and Mahmutlar and from Side and Manavgat; from Alanya city centre it costs €10 per person. Wear long, comfortable trousers and closed shoes, and bring sunscreen, a cap, water and – if you like – swimwear. Want something faster? The quad safari swaps hooves for horsepower, and the Avsallar boat trip makes for a lazy day on the water.
